Dr. Swaminathan Sabesan

Dr. Swaminathan Sabesan is a consultant positive psychologist and an EQi Coach from an applied behavioral science background. He is a doctorate in psychology along with a post-doctoral diploma in training and development. His pre-doctoral specializations include counseling psychology and organizational behavior. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Education.

 

He has more than 30 years of professional experience that includes teaching, research, assessment, facilitation, counseling, mentoring, coaching, and institution building. He has the distinct privilege of working closely with more than 75 CEOs/CXOs/HR leaders in the recent times. He has empowered them to think differently through feed forward developmental conversations and has finally helped them in achieving their developmental goals. Dr. Sabesan was consulted by practicing coaches during their engagements. 

Dr. Sabesan has coached and mentored several managers and leaders through developmental conversations over the years. His coachees are leaders from the field of finance, digital media, insurance broking, utility services, realty and supply chain and logistics to name a few. He has internally coached 20 leaders/senior managers of TVS Supply Chain Solutions over the last six years and helped them achieve their developmental goals. 

Dr. Sabesan has designed and facilitated signature programs and workshops on building psychological literacy, raising self-awareness, architecting personal growth, and developing emotional intelligence for corporate over the years. As a qualified psychologist, Dr. Sabesan standardized and administered several psychometric tests to thousands of professionals and non- professionals over the past twenty-five years. 

Thomas International, UK certified him on Person Profile Analysis (PPA) and Emotional Intelligence (EI). Academy of HRD, Ahmedabad certified him on MPTI (equivalent to MBTI). Change Works India and CFI Graduate School of Coaching certified him on Appreciative Inquiry and Appreciative Coaching. Multi Health Systems (MHS), USA certified him on EQi 2.0 and EQ 360.Mangalore University certified him as facilitator in HRD. North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (USA) certified him on ‘Understanding self, family structure, family dynamics and relationships. He was certified by International Stress Management Association on ‘Stress management counseling and guidance skills”. He was also certified on “Healing inner conflicts’ by Australian Counselors Association. He was certified by Pearson Academy on “My Choice My Future”. He was recently certified on the “Science of Well-being “and “Finding purpose and meaning in life” by the Yale and University of Michigan. 

 

Dr. Sabesan also co-created the coaching model and coaching competency model. He also developed a model for coaching readiness and designed ‘Continuous Coaching Competence Assessment framework’ for the coaches. He was a consultant for Employee Satisfaction Survey to a German MNC. 

Dr. Sabesan has contributed 20 research papers in HR and Psychology in journals of repute and the recent ones were on “Demystifying Work Life Balance for Occupational Wellness” and “Decoding Happiness- A Positive Psychology Perspective” in the International Journal of Psycho- Social Research in July 2022 edition and December 2022 edition respectively. He has also presented 15 research papers in National seminars and the recent one was on "Embedding Knowledge Management in an organization - TVS SCS way” in the 7th Biennial Supply Chain Management Conference at IIM-Bangalore on December 17, 2021. 

Dr. Sabesan has authored a few cases and has reviewed 10 books so far and the latest is on ‘Passion into Profession- Retire Young and Love Monday Morning’. He was an editorial consultant for both Indian Journal of Applied Psychology (IAAP) and Sage Publications. He was also one of the members of the Assessment panel of CFI’s Graduate School of Coaching. He is also a peer reviewer and Advisor to Indian School Psychology Association (InSPA). He has contributed a chapter on “Preserving Employees’ Well-being – An Organization’s Post Pandemic Imperative” in the book on “HRM in a Post-Epidemic Global Environment: Roles, Strategies, and Implementation”, Apple Academic Press, February 2023.He has been the regular contributor of articles for employees’ intranet (TVS SCS- LINK). 

He is also serving as an Editorial Consultant for International Journal of Asia Pacific School Psychology and SAGE publications. Currently, he is the Associate Editor for the Journal of Indian Academy of Applied Psychology 

Dr.S. Sabesan is the university first rank holder and the recipient of several awards that include “Psychometric Educational Services award for the valuable services and contributions to HRD” by the Chief Minister of Pondicherry and the All-India Merit Awardee of Indian of Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD), New Delhi. He was recently recognized with “Distinguished Alumnus Award “by Annamalai University.

 

He was also an examiner for Ph. D degree Viva of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. He was also a Board of Studies Member in Vivekananda College and JBAS College for Women, Chennai. He was recognized for Leadership Excellence during TVS SCS Town Hall meeting recently. He is a motivational speaker and has addressed forums like NIPM, ISTD and MMA. He has also appeared in several talk shows for DD Pothigai Kalaignar TV and Vendhar TV. 

Dr. Sabesan currently heads the Knowledge Management function of the Group Corporate of TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd since January 2017. He is instrumental in designing, developing a dedicated Knowledge Management portal for the benefit of the employees and it currently houses close to twenty-one thousand user-centric and high viscous contents. Besides this, he also passionately facilitates several behavioral training interventions for the TVS SCS employees. He also internally coaches executives from senior management of TVS SCS and helps them succeed and grow in their career along with their organization.
